Jaunty Jowari Dosa with Tantalizing Tomato Chutney

I usually wake up in the morning, not knowing what I’d be having for breakfast! In times like these (which is almost every day, phew!), I like to quickly whip up something that’s healthy, easy, tasty (by default) and can be made in no time.

Enter Jowari Dosa! Here are the ingredients,

A cup of Jowari flour

2-3 tablespoons of Idli Rava

1-2 tablespoons of Semolina or Rava

Salt (needless to say, as per taste)

1 or more green chillies (the way you like it)

Half an onion or 1 onion (if small)

Some chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves

1 teaspoon of jeera or cumin seeds

Water

Method:

Mix in all the above ingredients in a large bowl.

Post mixing, add in some water and mix it again. Note that the consistency of the batter should be watery, just like the batter of Neer Dosa.

Let the batter rest for about 5 minutes.

Next, heat the dosa pan (low to medium flame), pour the batter across the pan using a ladle (please note that you needn’t spread the batter using the ladle like you do in the case of a regular dosa; you pour the batter onto the pan in this case, as the batter is watery just like the neer dosa batter).

Sprinkle some oil.

You could cover the pan while the dosa is being cooked (you needn’t flip the dosa).

Voila, our dosa is ready!

For the very basic (yet tasty) Tomato Chutney:

Heat some oil in a pan.

Put in one chopped onion and fry it, until it becomes golden brown. Add some salt to fasten the process.

Put in one chopped tomato and some red chilli powder (red chillies are ideal for this recipe, however since I didn’t have red chillies, I used some red chilli powder).

Give it a good mix and allow the tomatoes to soften.

Put off the flame once the tomatoes are cooked and allow this mixture to cool.

Once cooled, blend it in a mixer

You’re now ready to gobble up the amazing Jowari Dosa with the tantalizing Tomato Chutney!
