La Gaufrette

IMG-20180709-WA0018Just out of curiosity, I did a google search to understand the meaning of the French word, “Gaufrette“. So, according to my research, the dictionary defines “Gaufrette” as a sweet, crisp wafer, served with mousse or ice-cream!

My husband and I, after a gruelling session at the gym, where we felt we lost far more calories than we ever imagined to, decided to replenish all the lost calories and energy with some desserts 😉 Smart move, eh!?

We headed straight to La Gaufrette (in our gym wear, mind you!) and ordered for a Chocolate Fudge cake. Now, I have had some really decadent cakes, back home in India and I had huge expectations out of this place – a French name, mind-blowing interiors, great-looking servers (who looked so much better than sweaty, hungry people (like us) in gym wear).

But, the Chocolate Fudge cake was honestly, a bit of a disappointment. It didn’t match our expectations at all – you expect a cake to be gooey, soft, moist and all of that jazz. Having said that, I am not sure if a chocolate fudge cake is supposed to be dry and not as moist as other cakes; nonetheless, I clearly didn’t enjoy this pastry as much as I enjoyed their Croquant pastry!

The Croaquant pastry was all that you expect a good pastry to be – gooey, moist and all things nice! 😀 It had a nice nutty base to it which gave it an extra crunch and added on, to its amazing taste and yes, it melts in your mouth and gives you this heady sugar rush, that leaves you feeling both great and guilty (especially after a crazy session at the gym)!

We’d surely want to try their waffles and their lunch options someday.

Food : Decent, I’d say! Not as great as I had expected it to be.

Ambience : 4/5 for sure! The ambience is great!

Service : 3/5, decent enough!
