Grub Shack is the place to be, to grab a bite or to have an elaborate meal! Either ways, this place dishes out some tasty delicacies, native to both Goa and Mumbai; located in the dainty surroundings of Dubai Healthcare City, Grub Shack is quite the “hidden gem” that it’s touted to be.
The husband was really keen to dig into a sumptuous biryani last week, and I, being a dutiful wife and a fellow foodie decided to do some research on the best biryani available in town. I chanced upon this link below, which showed up the top five biryani spots in Dubai and Sharjah.
We both collectively agreed to try the biryani at Grub Shack. The servers here are quite nice and friendly. Since my husband was clear on having a biryani, he ordered a Mutton Biryani and a plate of Beef Croquettes for himself. Unfortunately, they didn’t have vegetarian biryani that day, so as per our server Josh’s recommendation, I decided to order for a Vegetable Fried Rice. I was told that I needn’t necessarily order for a gravy dish alongside the Fried Rice as the rice is quite flavorful by itself.
The Beef Croquettes came in first and my husband really enjoyed eating the croquettes. The crust was crisp and the beef filling inside was soft and tender, so, my husband was pretty happy with the croquettes. Then, came in the Mutton Biryani. The Mutton Biryani was a whole new level, definitely one among the tastiest biryanis that my husband’s ever had (his words). The meat was cooked to perfection – succulent and nice! The aroma, the taste, the flavour of the biryani was just so right that one could keep coming back to this restaurant for more! 🙂
Now, as a part of the main course, came in the Vegetable Fried Rice. I like my food spicy and had conveyed the same to our server for the day, Josh. In most cases elsewhere, whenever I ask my food to be made a bit spicy, either I am served food that’s not spicy at all or I am served food that could magically convert me into a fire-breathing dragon! But pleasantly, in this case, the spiciness was just so right that I thoroughly enjoyed my Veg Fried Rice and yes, as suggested, I didn’t quite feel the need to have a gravy dish on the side as the rice in itself was extremely tasty and yum!
For the dessert, we had a bowl of Cashew and Fig Kulfi, again a gem of a dessert, so decadent and drool-worthy!

All in all, Grub Shack was a great experience, in terms of food, ambience and service! Special thanks to Josh and one other server as well, whose name, unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten! I definitely recommend this place to everybody who loves food!
Food : Awesome, would love to try more of their signature dishes.
Ambience : 5/5 for sure! Creative and also has a small live music kind of a setup but there was no singer that day.
Service : Again a 5/5!
P.S. The bill/cheque is presented to you in a unique way, in a small toy bus, which was pretty cool I thought!
