AR Rahman Biryani

IMG-20180415-WA0057AR Rahman – the Mozart of Madras owning a restaurant in our very own Dubai (or, so I thought!)

I expected a yummy South-Indian fare with soulful AR Rahman classics playing in the background, great service and mind-blowing ambience with huge pictures hung on the walls, of the maestro himself!

Alas, the minute I saw the restaurant, my hopes shattered and I was upset, Dil Se! My Saathiya told me, “It’s OK Kanmani, don’t be disheartened, since we have already decided to eat here, let’s just explore the options that they have and let’s not judge without really having their food”.

So, we decided to have biryani since it is AR Rahman Biryani, after all! So, my husband ordered for a Mutton Biryani and I decided to go for a Veg Biryani!

It’s very rare when I dislike the food so much that I can barely finish the first morsel, the Veg Biryani had this funky-smelling herb in it, which made it impossible for me to like the Biryani. I am not too sure as to what the herb was but it smelled obnoxious. The only saving grace was the Gobi 65, which I have to admit, was way better and in fact, quite tasty!

As for the Mutton Biryani, my husband found it extremely bland and definitely not up to the mark.

So, all in all, AR Rahman Biryani was just about okay and we are not coming back here again, for a long, long time!

Food : Not good, didn’t tantalize my taste-buds for sure!

Ambience : Decent

Service : Decent

P.S. As soon as I entered in, I asked the server if this restaurant has anything to do with the maestro AR Rahman, they obviously replied in the negative.
